The Way
If
we were to compare ourselves to God, even our best actions and intentions would be like filthy rags. If you were to
try and clean yourself with a dirty rag, you would still be filthy. There simply is no way for us to clean
ourselves from our own sins/falseness.
It is a disease that affects
100% of the population, from generation to generation. It was contracted by the first man, because of his choice to
disobey God, and passed on throughout the generations to today. No one can avoid it and everyone that has ever
lived, besides Jesus, has it. The result of this sin will be death. No one can escape it, we will all
die.
Pretty grim, I would say.
So, what can we do about this result? NOTHING. Only God CAN do anything and he DID.
He provided THE WAY for us, but will not make us take it.
God became human, in the form of Jesus Christ, to take our deserved punishment. He
had no choice, if he really loved us and did not want us to perish. This was the only way to clean us, so that we
could live forever with him. Only that crystal clear, unsalted water with no pollutants or boundaries, at all, and
flawless in every way could clean us and make us worthy to enter Heaven.
Death was not the way prior to
sin entering the world. The consequence of Sin is death. Our sins are the symptoms of this incurable disease. Since
no-one can clean himself or anyone else of sin, they must be subject to that consequence. It is our debt to pay and
we are in BIG trouble. We are not capable of repaying it.
God wants to be in communion
with us. He doesn't want anyone to perish, so to prevent this from happening, he had to pay this debt for us and he
did. Whether we choose to be with him or not, he paid it.
